NISIDA - The Island of youth suspended
The conversion of chastisement into a suspended rights economy has been one of the key moments
in the evolution of criminal systems.
Since then, the re-education of the individual has acted on his soul through
the deprivation of freedom.
In Italy there are more than 300 youngsters under 25 detained in juvenile hall.
The IPM of Nisida, located on the homonymous island forbidden to the public, is the Naples' juvenile prison,
one of the 17 present on the Italian territory and is the first for average daily attendance.
The Institute has recently distinguished itself for a cutting-edge re-education path that ,in addition to
the technical and educational workshops, consists of activities in close contact with the lush nature of the island.
The exclusive opportunity to experience moments of freedom through the contact with a protect and wonderful environment despite their condition of imprisonment, aims to unhinge from inmates an attitude that idolizes
and emulates behavioral models of local crime.
Isolated from the world in the blush of youth, the boys of Nisida
have the opportunity to change their lives.
